El príncipe negro, conocedor del poder de la espada, decidió utilizarla para asesinar a su padre y obtener la corona. Sin embargo, la espada, había desarrollado durante los largos años en los que había sido custodiada, una extraña forma de personalidad animista.
Consciente del terrible error del príncipe, en el momento del golpe de gracia, la espada se liberó del yugo del asesino, y cayó estrepitosamente al suelo, impidiendo el regicidio. El príncipe fue exiliado y se mantuvo el statu quo.
Aunque la espada cayó en el olvido y su magia quedó sepultada por la losa de las eras, recientemente ha sido encontrada. La Espada Roja ha avinagrado su carácter, y somete a su portador a juicios constantes de sabiduría, para asegurarse de no cometer el error de épocas pasadas.
